3D Design

On-site computer-aided design (CAD) engineering challenge. Participants design a new structural model to solve an engineering problem released on competition day.

Mission Briefing

WARNING! EMERGENCY ALERT RECEIVED:

Field operatives require custom tactical equipment. Your objective is to design a completely original 3D model using CAD software. The design must strictly adhere to the overarching 'Defence & Security' theme. Once the digital blueprint is complete, the file must be submitted to command for official technical approval before printing.

Competition Overview

ForgeLab challenges students to apply computer-aided design (CAD) to solve real-world defense challenges. Teams submit their STL design file for the Preliminary Round. Selected teams print their design at their school to bring to the Grand Finale, where they will model their idea live from scratch for final evaluation.

Mission Objectives

  • Design an innovative idea for army.
  • Send the STL file of design for preliminary round.
  • Once selected, print the design in school and bring the print to finale.
  • On Finale, design the idea live from scratch.
  • Points will be given for print idea, finish of print and on the finale design.

Preliminary Round: Technical Evaluation

Online technical evaluation & layout review. Teams must submit their initial blueprints and project details to our official Gmail address for pre-approval before the main event.

Preliminary Round Registration Requirements

Participants must send a PDF to our official Gmail (aditya.himbotics@gmail.com) containing the following details:

  • School Name
  • Team Name
  • Participant Names
  • Mentor/Teacher Name
  • Contact Details

Technical Evaluation Requirements

In your PDF submission, you must clearly define the following:

  • Object Utility: What is the purpose or real-world function of the object you are printing?
  • Design Software: What software was used to design the 3D model (e.g., Tinkercad, Fusion 360)?
  • Design Screenshots: Provide screenshots of your 3D model from multiple angles (front, side, top).
  • Print Specifications: What is the estimated print time, dimension scale, and preferred material (e.g., PLA, ABS)?
